Eoin Staples and Paul Nolan completed a quickfire 14/1 double at Wexford as Sean Mc finished best to land the Visitwexford.ie Handicap Hurdle.

The 13/2 chance, runner-up twice this season over similar distances at Punchestown and Fairyhouse, only got on top in the closing stages.

There were plenty still in contention at the penultimate flight where Annie’s Belle was a faller and 85/40 favourite Humble Brag was close up when his rider got unbalanced and unseated at the last.

Sean Mc was fourth approaching the final flight but finished with a flourish to beat Cowper Hall by two lengths with Hitthehayson a further four lengths back in third.

Nolan’s brother and assistant trainer James said, “He deserved that. He finished second a couple of times, and you could ignore the last day as it was his fourth run in quick enough succession. Sean (O'Keeffe) gave him a lovely ride that day.

"I'm delighted for the lads, Dominic Delaney and his family. They are fantastic owners and loyal people. They've had horses with us for years and have been a bit unlucky.

“They are Kilkenny people and I'm thrilled for them. It's their first winner since 2007.

"He'll go for something similar now in three or four weeks’ time."

Staples and Nolan were also on the mark in the previous maiden hurdle with Le Moulin Rouge (evens fav).
