Charm Of Venice swept through inside the final furlong to run out a convincing winner of the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden at Down Royal for Andy Oliver.

The daughter of St Mark’s Basilica was sent to post a 16/1 shot on her third career outing, having been fifth in a Dundalk maiden when last seen in January.

Gary Carroll tracked the leaders on his mount as Vauntingly and Camelot Queen duelled at the head of affairs, in the ten furlong contest.

Charm Of Venice came to trump that pair just inside the furlong marker and soon settled things, going on to post a two-and-three quarter length win over Vauntingly.

Oliver said: "She's just physically improving. She's quite a tall filly and she just is coming into herself.

"She had a bit of an accident prior to racing at Naas the last time (in late April) and had to be taken out of the race. It delayed her a bit.

"She was declared the last time for 10 furlongs, so we thought 10 was her trip.

"She has run well at Dundalk, so I don't think she is ground dependent, but she did handle that.

"I was delighted with it. We were seeing that at home, so we wanted to make sure it came to the racecourse."
