Treacle update

A crack at the Hennessy Gold Cup at Newbury remains a possibility for Treacle following his game victory earlier this month in the Munster National.

The eight-year-old had been without a victory since 2007 until he scored at Listowel in June.

He then returned from a four-month break to follow up in Limerick's valuable prize.

"Treacle has been super since Limerick and we have had no problems with him," said Taaffe.

"He's just cantering away nicely and either the Troytown Chase at Navan or the Hennessy would be his immediate two targets, depending on the way the weights are and the way the ground is at both tracks.

"He may get into the weights in the Hennessy or he may not, so we'll just have to see what's going to happen at this stage.

"He's a progressive type and is obviously going in the right direction at the moment, so let's hope he carries on that way."
