Vocalised goes on trial in the Greenham

Vocalised will face ten rivals in the Bathwick Tyres Greenham Stakes at Newbury on Saturday after Jim Bolger declared his charge for the Group 3 Guineas trial this morning.

The son of Vindication has progressed well winning the latest two of his three starts including making all on his reappearance in the Listed Newbridge Credit Union Loughbrown Stakes at the Curragh earlier this month.

The promising three-year-old is taking his first step into Group company and will face stiff opposition from the likes of Marcus Tregoning's 2000 Guineas hope Finjaan.

Winner of Goodwood's Molecomb Stakes last July, Finjaan was touched off by Bolger's Intense Focus and Lord Shanakill in the Dewhurst Stakes on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket in October and his trainer is expecting a bold bid.

'He is obviously one of our big early-season hopes, and hopefully he'll be good enough to run in the 2000 Guineas,' said Tregoning.

'Ground permitting, he will run in the Greenham. If it is good to soft it is fine - good ground would be even better - but if the ground deteriorates massively, we might just wait and go straight to the Guineas.'

'The forecast is unsettled, and I don't want to start him in a race where the ground is not suitable. He got seven furlongs well last season and he has settled well this year, but we've always got the option of dropping back in trip.'

Lord Shanakill also features in the Greenham line-up, along with Roger Charlton's Cityscape, the Richard Hannon-trained Elnawin and Godolphin's Shaweel.
