Mark Walsh completed a double in the JP McManus silks as Agameoftwohalves opened his account at the fourth attempt in the ThatPrizeGuy.co.uk Maiden Hurdle at Punchestown this afternoon.

The Gordon Elliott-trained gelding had shown some promise in big field maidens and was sent off the 15/8 favourite in this 2m3f event for horses rated 110 or less.

Walsh had to get down to work on the son of Walk In The Park to lead approaching the final flight and despite a mistake, found plenty on the run-in to deny Good Option by two lengths. Can Happen was a further six lengths away in third.

McManus’ racing manager Frank Berry said, “He was workmanlike, and hopefully his jumping will improve a little bit. Mark said he was a bit messy at a few of them, and he will learn a lot from today.

“It’s nice to see him get the job done. He got to the line quite well.

“He’ll learn a bit and it’s nice to get it out of the way. He’ll jump a fence in time and he’ll go further too.”

Walsh was also on the mark earlier in the McManus colours aboard Crecora Hills who justified 6/5 favouritism in the featured €26,000 Irish Stallion Farms EBF Mares Handicap Chase.
