Dermot Weld's Investec Derby hope Free Eagle is one of 12 European nominations for the American Triple Crown races.

The High Chaparral colt won impressively on his debut but was then no match for Aidan O'Brien's Australia in a Group Three back at Leopardstown in September.

Weld has also nominated Fascinating Rock, Gambrinus and Good Tradition, none of whom has won a race as yet.

O'Brien himself has been represented in the Triple Crown races recently and this year he has put forward Giovanni Boldini, second at the Breeders' Cup, Michaelmas, Sir John Hawkins and Oklahoma City.

Richard Hannon's Chief Barker, Jamie Osborne's Toast Of New York, the Toby Coles-trained Orange Grove and Bookrunner, trained by Mikel Delzangles in France, complete the European contingent.
