Ger Lyons will bid to continue his excellent start to the 2018 season with Who’s Steph who will make her debut in the colours of leading owner George Strawbridge in the Group 3 Derrinstown Stud 1000 Guineas Trial at Leopardstown on Sunday.

On just her third outing the daughter of Zoffany produced a career best effort on her return to action at Leopardstown last month when she defeated a good field to land the Group 3 Ballylinch Stud 1000 Guineas Trial Stakes.

That victory, one of three Group 3 triumphs for Lyons so far this season, led to her purchase by George Strawbridge whose colours have been carried with such distinction in Europe by the likes of champion sprinter Silver Fling and the top miler Selkirk.

“She’s a lovely, honest filly who has been training well since the last day and this looked the obvious race to aim towards as she is able to line up without a penalty,” said Lyons.

“We hope that she will run well on Sunday and that race will help us to make a plan going forward. We're blessed to have a new owner to have joined the team and it's just great to have those colours in the yard.”
