FormscanBy Gary Carson - ESCULENTA has been bumping into some serious rivals in maidens and doesn't look badly treated now trying handicap company. The Johnny Murtagh-trained filly kept on to finish second to Ballydoyle filly Toy at Cork last month having also been placed in a strong maiden won by Tuesday at Naas on her seasonal debut. That Naas race has worked out particularly well with plenty of winners in around her. Solar Breeze was narrowly denied at a big price on her return at Naas a fortnight ago and could be a big player on her handicap debut. The Kodiac filly looks open to further improvement. Fiach McHugh was no match for Ivy League at Naas last month but that rival lines up in the 2,000 Guineas earlier on the card so it was a decent effort. He is another interesting one on his handicap debut.
An extended handicap for three years old only (95 = 9st 12lbs)Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 7lb extra for each race won.
