Good Bye Sam won a hunter chase at Tramore a fortnight ago despite making a number of mistakes and Patrick Mullins later reported that he was unsuited by the tight right-handed circuit. Vital Island has plenty of experience around this unique track including when runner-up in the marathon La Touche Cup back in 2019 and again filled the runner-up spot behind Singing Banjo in this race 12 months ago. Michael’s Pick was soundly beaten in this race last year before finishing second just 48 hours later in the La Touche Cup and perhaps connections have a similar plan this week.
