Formscan By John O'Riordan - A four-time winner at this track, MEHMAN(3) can record a first success since January 2025. Despite reaching the frame on multiple occasions since, the son of Mehmas has dropped to an exploitable mark. Having shaped with plenty of promise when fifth here last time, the Pat Murphy-trained gelding can get his head back in front. Although the seven-year-old will require some luck in running given his hold-up style, Paddy Harnett looks the ideal pilot to adopt such tactics. Recent Curragh second Eichan San could provide the main threat. The Danny Murphy-trained four-year-old should enjoy coming off the likely fast pace. Rappell and Iff In Doubt can fight it out for minor honours.

We got his palate cauterised a month ago but he has run absolutely terribly since and we only ran here as the lads (owners) wanted a runner, as they were staying up. He ran on Tuesday night when he didn't stay and the ground was too soft, but was due to be dropped 2lb and I said we may as well run again. It was a surprise but is great and he isn't a bad horse at his best. Adam gave him a brilliant ride as well. The two (syndicate) lads, Donie O'Connell, who won two hurling All Irelands for Tipperary, and his friend Pat Leahy, are knocking a fair bit of fun out of him and are with me a long time now. She deserved that, she’s been running really well,. said Duke. I might have made a mistake turning her out quickly at Killarney. It’s so difficult with these low-grade horses finding races for them. A mile is her trip. I thought I might get away with six-and-a-half in Limerick and it probably cost me the race in Killarney. It was a little bit quick turnaround. I thought she ran her heart out in Killarney. I kind of have it in my head for her, the juvenile hurdle on the 27th of December in Leopardstown. I won it with Leagan Gaeilge (2019). We were delighted with Down Royal. She’s improved a lot from her two-year-old days. Andrew Lynch rides her all her work. We thought we were going with a bit of a chance (last time) as it was three-year-old only, it’s hard to get those handicaps. Colin said after Down Royal that we could drop her back if we wanted. The man that owns her, Joe Dervan, is local, from Ashbourne. It’s his first runner in these colours. She just bumped into one on the day last time. Colin said she’s still babyish and learning her trade. She was still little bit green at the finish. He wanted something to aim at rather than being in front and having the older horses coming at her. He gave her a super ride, as usual. She loves good ground, six or seven. She’s had her win now so that’s great and we’ll enjoy today.
