She did (enjoy that ground) - we always thought she was a nice filly and she had a great run in her first run at Ballinrobe (third in April). She ran a cracker that day and came home well. For whatever reason, she kind of never put it together. I suppose stepping her up to two and a-half really suited her there today. She has a lovely pedigree and, in fairness, Sam gave her a great ride. He was very patient on her. Hopefully, she will improve away and go up through the ranks in the handicaps. It was funny, it was early enough this morning when Gordon's (Elliott) office rang and said the first two reserves weren't running. It worked out even better as Sam knew the filly and his horse didn't run, so it allowed him to get in. It worked out great. She's not the biggest in the world, we will stay tipping away with her there and see what happens. I don't know if she would go on real heavy ground, but she handled that well there today.

She settled there today with that kind of ride and got things her own way in front. She was that relaxed he had to wake her up a bit. I'm 18, from Dingle and have no background in racing although I'm 100 metres over the road from the Kennedys (champion jockey Jack and Paddy). Jack used to ride horses by my house every day of the week so got the bug from there and they have been very good to me. I spent a season flapping and another season point-to-pointing with Sam Curling, who was very good to me. She goes well at home and I thought she had a good chance running off a light weight. She did it well in the finish. It was a surprise although we don't have her very long. She was fit, healthy and well when she came, but came (with) it a bit of an attitude and didn't delay too long in getting her out (to run) as I didn't want her getting bored with the change of scenery. She worked very very well in two bits of work for me and Tom rides her out at home, so knows her well. To be fair to Peter, he said she has loads of ability but needed to be sweetened up. She might go back to '0's' and 'P's' now but, if we can keep her genuine, she might win again. She had a light weight and Tom is good value for the 7lb claim, so we tried to make things as easy as we could for her. He is a great lad, works hard and you couldn't get better than him and is a good rider too.

She’s a cracking filly who was bred by one of my owners Tommy James and while I previously leased her to a group of lads who then got tired of her, I wouldn't blame them,. I had to take her back myself and I'm delighted she has won as she is from a great family and her half-brother Piccolo Player won in Limerick recently for me, and he is a very good horse. . It is a proper family although I'm not a fan of Sageburg (her sire). She is a cracking little mare so will make a broodmare for somebody. She is difficult to train and to mind but we have great patience, that's one thing I have with horses and I give them every chance. If this mare had been in another yard, she'd have been scrapped long ago. She will be way better over fences.

It wasn’t that much of a surprise. We fancied her because she ran very well in Wexford the other day. We picked the wrong race for her there - 2m5f was too far for her and we brought her back to 2m1f today. In Wexford at today’s distance she was cruising but she didn’t see out the trip. She handled the ease in the ground but we were hoping it wouldn’t get too soft because she’ll go on better ground as well. She’s the only one I have in training at the moment. We’ll try and find a handicap for her and hopefully he (the handicapper) won’t give her too much for that. It was a very ordinary race.
