Formscan - Paul Nicholls' tentative comparison to Demnan is a significant clue towards the potential held by NO DRAMA THIS END, who is unbeaten over hurdles and appears to be a rising star. Things didn't go to plan for him in the Champion Bumper here last year but he has flourished greatly since jumping entered the equation. A Grade 2 success over C&D at the November meeting was followed by a striking display at the same level at Sandown. Having then comfortably stepped up to the top tier in the Challow at Newbury, the son of Walk In The Park boasts rock-solid credentials. Ballyfad and King Rasko Grey lead the charge for Ireland and are hard to split based on their second and third-placed finishes in the Tattersalls at the Dublin Racing Festival. Like the Challow, that race has produced several previous winners of this prestigious novices' event and both are serious contenders. Their yards are very strongly represented and the likes of Skylight Hustle, Sober and Sortudo would all be dangerous to underestimate. I'll Sort That comfortably held the latter in a Grade 1 at Naas and he is another must for the shortlist in a high-calibre renewal.

He showed a good attitude. We were a bit worried in his bumpers that he looked like he was a bit sluggish in soft ground,. Jack said he showed plenty of pace there and he was absolutely delighted with him. He seemed to like that ground. We were worried that he might not be quick enough on it but it was a good performance and we’re very happy. We’ll get him home and have a chat with Michael and Eddie and see where we go, maybe the DRF.

it is hard to say what would have happened but if I had to ride the race again, I don’t think I’d have jumped off where I did (in second place). I got a horrid spin off him, so would have been better off jumping off last, but you live and learn and I’ve learned an awful lot about him. You think you know all about them when riding them out at home but I suppose he was a big baby and is waking up. He got away with it today but jumping off handy again wouldn’t be a good idea. Being a one-trick pony is grand when you are making the running, but I was in the wrong position today and I think there’ll be a better performance in him as he was so free the whole way. The next day we’ll either pop out (and lead) or drop in and I wouldn’t rule out going to Navan in three weeks for the Monksfield Novice next.

No matter how ready they are (following a layoff), it takes a fair beast to come to Navan on winter ground like that and run out a nice winner. We are delighted with the performance and we knew he was a nice horse at home. To put it all together, that's decent. I have a fine four-year-old that is good and tough through the race, so that was a nice run around for me. When you are on the best horse in the race, you always think the ground is better, although if you are down the field, you are thinking the ground is slower.

he’s a proper one when he’s right. There is a mixture of speed and stamina in his pedigree and it is coming through now. It’s good to have him back. I don’t know what happened the first two days over hurdles with him but he gave the winner 8lb last-time and that horse (King Rasko Grey) is only 7/1 for a Grade 1 next weekend. He also got first run on us that day as well.

I thought looking at it live that we were beat, but when I looked at the re-run, I wasn’t sure (with) the way my lad galloped from the last to the line. Jack said when he came in ‘I can’t guarantee I would have won but I definitely wasn’t beat’. He said he really liked the way he went from the last to the line. It happened to us yesterday (when El Cairos fell when in front at the last) but that’s why it’s called jump racing. He’s a good horse and I think he’ll stay further as well. I’d imagine he’ll come back here for the Dublin Racing Festival.

He had very good bumper form and had schooled well at home,. He jumped well all through the race but was alone in front when he just had a look at the final hurdle. . I rode him in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham when he gave me a great feel. His introduction today was over two miles and he didn't lack speed. He has matured well and going further wouldn't be out of the question for him either - that will be one of the usual conundrums for Willie to decide. You'd imagine Christmas could now be a target and that'll decide the bigger spring targets.

He’s a horse we’ve always liking. He was disappointing in Navan, and I’d say the ground didn’t help him. It was a competitive race, he winged hurdles and I’m delighted with him. He’s had three runs (this season) and we might start looking at March. He’s quite a big, light-framed horse so maybe a month easy now and come back for the spring. He’s learning all the time and thanks to Colin Bowe who recommended him.
