Formscan - STORM HEART was a useful juvenile hurdler a couple of seasons ago and has not had much racing since. The six-year-old accounted for a decent field when winning over 2m in the Red Mills Trial at Gowran last month and that followed an easy success over 2m4f at Limerick over Christmas. With the prospect of more to come back up in trip, it would be no surprise to see him score here. Stablemate Kopeck De Mee failed to fire when well backed in the Martin Pipe 12 months ago, but put that right when a narrow second at Aintree the following month. He is another likely to have improvement left to come. Jingko Blue bumped into a useful rival in Kabral Du Mathan when second in the Relkeel here in January and he could make the frame, while Lucky Place and The Yellow Clay are others with valid each-way claims.

He just knows how to win and is improving the whole time. I was very worried about the ground and was undecided about running him but I rang Noel (Moran, owner), who is in Turkey, and he gave me the green light. They went a good gallop all the way and Wingmen ran a good race as well. I’d imagine he (The Yellow Clay) will go straight to Cheltenham now. I loved the way he travelled today and if anything, he probably got there plenty soon. Sam said he hated the ground. The race in Navan, where he was a bit behind the bridle, probably helped to wake him up.

It was a very good introduction, I didn’t expect that. I was hoping he was alright, but he’s more than alright looking at that performance. Paul thought he was very brave too as he got blinded at one or two hurdles. He lost his confidence for one or two, but got it back. He took them on and he loves jumping. I would have said coming here there was huge improvement in him, and I hope there is. He’s probably good enough to go wherever we wanted.

He jumped great, he was clever and shortened when he had to,. I was delighted with him the whole way and Jack was grand on him, he didn't panic at any stage and let him pop. He winged a couple of fences. I'd say he gave a heave going to the second last but then class just pulled him through. He winged the last. I think he's only about 70 or 75 percent fit so he's going to come on a lot from that. It was a lovely opportunity to start him off over fences. Where we go from here, I don't know yet but obviously our main aim is to try and get back to Cheltenham. We won't over-race him but we'll get some good races into him. He'll definitely face stiffer opposition through the winter but that was nice, a lovely experience for him and especially here at home next door to us. The ground is in absolutely fantastic conditions. It's lovely, a three-runner race at home, but I'm glad it's over with in one way. When you've a horse like this and he's your best horse, and he's owned by very good owners, you just want to get this out of the way and progress from here and see where he brings us. I was only looking at today and today's opportunity was lovely for him. He'll get another before he goes back to Cheltenham in November. I'd like to keep it local and keep him off the truck, keep the travelling limit. I'm not sure if there's a race here later in the month but if there is he'll more than likely come back here.

Jack said his best was from the last to the line. He didn't get pulled up until down below and its job done. We probably would have preferred a bit more competition. They didn't go quick, and he was looking around him. He said it was actually slippy and he slipped a bit and then was a bit careful. I'd imagine, with horses not getting out, he'll head straight on to the Drinmore now. In fairness he was better on that ground - Wexford was horrible ground.

It is like buses, you wait four years and then two (wins) at once!. He's great. For whatever reason, he just comes back every year in great form. I don't know what it is about this year, he's just been in extra-special form!. He has always run well, but maybe there is a little more to him this year. He has been minded well through the years. He did (take some scalps) and Johnny said he had to keep him up to his work. He enjoys it and that's the whole thing about it. He gets looked after like a king at home - he's in a small yard, so he is the king of the castle! It really works for him. Oh my God, so lucky (to have him). We have had him since he was a foal, so the dream has been alive but he has delivered. He's now near €300,000 in prize money. He has nearly given his running on every single run and that is incredible for a horse to bring it to the table as much as he has. He's the best, he is just fabulous!. The plan is to go for the Long Walk Hurdle at Ascot. That was always the plan coming here and the idea was that if he could stay two and a-half (miles) on heavy ground, then he should be able to stay three miles. Johnny says he keeps finding - he says you gotta ask for it, but he does keep finding. He'll tell us (after Ascot).

It's going well and is something to look forward to in the future when I do hang up my boots. I'm 56 and still enjoying riding. Scott was riding in the race and finished fifth. He got a great spot from the draw (stall 30) and he minded him into the race. He's a tricky horse but Niall gave him a lovely ride and it's a great pot to win. He had a bit of look around after he hit the front but that's him. He's not the simplest horse to get right and he was against the odds for things to go right from that draw. Niall was very kind on him, and he settled well for him. He ran great in Listowel and bounced out of the race well so we figured we'd let him take his chance. He could go for a nice handicap hurdle in Leopardstown. He doesn't want the ground too soft.

Keith (Donoghue, on In The Trenches) set a good gallop putting his experience to use but that suited me. He came out of my hands at the first but after that popped away lovely. He's more inclined to pop than have a crack at them. I could see Keith's horse jumping and hanging a bit left all the way and once he has hung off the home bend, has given us a great split. I think he has plenty of scope to chase; those Walk In The Park's are very natural jumpers and Pink In The Park (Chart Topper's dam) won her beginners' chase so he'll jump a fence no problem. He is very clever rather than brave but there's nothing wrong with that. His work at home was very good and we were hugely disappointed until now; we thought he would be winning at the Punchestown Festival but maybe jumping has improved him. I'd like to see him go up in trip and think he would probably be fairly versatile regarding ground, although I'm not sure he is a real middle of winter horse.

We had to clean out the whole place, changed water pots - did everything possible. Franciscan Rock had some good form and there were no slouches for today's four-horse race - any of the four could have won. He is qualified for the Pertemps (at Cheltenham), but a lot of water has to flow under the bridge first. I'll give him a break now.

it is nice to get him back as he had been in the doldrums for a while, although in the last couple of weeks he had been showing that bit of a spark at home. He always had a laid-back style and I decided to put the blinkers on, which definitely helped his jumping. I’d been waiting for his customary jumping-mistakes but he didn’t make them today. There’s a 2m4f beginners’ chase at Wexford in a few weeks time, so we’ll see how he comes out of this and he could also have a Flat campaign. That’s Carl’s second ride for us and first winner for us, and he settled him grand and the horse jumped well for him.
