Paul (Townend) said he’s learning the whole time jumping-wise: that was a bit of an issue for him last year, so he seems to be enjoying it a bit more. Hopefully he can build on it. The Raceday Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Quint Major, ridden by L.A. McKenna, and trained by M.A.Molloy. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. L.A. McKenna stated that his instructions were to bounce out and get a good position. He stated that he made a mistake at the first hurdle and lost ground and did something similar at the second, encountered traffic problems thereafter and didn't handle the ground. He concluded by stating that his mount is less than straight forward and he felt he had to hold it together to achieve its best possible placing. M.A.Molloy confirmed the instructions given and stated that he was initially disappointed but having spoken with the rider in the parade ring, he was satisfied with the ride in the circumstances. He further stated that his charge has won a summer bumper on good ground and he was disappointed with his charge's jumping today. The Raceday Stewards also received a report from the Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer who reported the animal to be post race normal. Samples were taken for further analysis. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards noted both explanations in relation to Rule 212. They were however satisfied that L.A. McKenna was in breach of Rule 213(ii)(by failing to report something that may have affected the running of his horse) and having considered his clean record, they suspended him for one raceday

The Raceday Stewards enquired into the running and riding of Small Doses, ridden by R. Deegan, and trained by Paul Nolan. Evidence was heard from the rider and trainer concerned. R. Deegan stated that his mount can be a very difficult ride and he unseated the rider at the start on his first run. He added that he behaved better in its last run but was still mindful of his temperament throughout the race. He further added he jumped well today but lost ground at the third last so he gave his mount time to recover which is why he stayed on well in the closing stages
