Formscan  - GROUNDHOG (second) had looked in trouble at the three furlong marker at Ripon latest, but he kept on well towards the finish to get within a neck of the reopposing Perfidia (winner). David and Nicola Barron's gelding is 1lb better off and, with this stiff finish likely to suit, it would come as no surprise were he to reverse that form. Atmosphere merits respect too.
