Permission was given for Impartiality (GB) and Vesperado (GB) to both wear a red hood to the start.
Impartiality (GB) made contact with the running rail on the way to post.
Having been checked by the Veterinary Surgeon at the start, the gelding was deemed fit to race.
An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race after interference from approximately 1 ½ furlongs involving the winner Impartiality (GB), ridden by Shane Gray and Harswell Ruby (IRE), placed second, ridden by Rowan Scott.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved Impartiality (GB)’s placing as the initial bump was contributed to by both horses moving towards each other; shortly thereafter there was light contact when Impartiality (GB) edged to its left moving Harswell Ruby (IRE) slightly off its intended line.
The Stewards further noted that Impartiality (GB) ran on past Harswell Ruby (IRE) in the concluding stages to win going away from the runner up by a short head margin; taking this into account the placings were ordered to remain unaltered.
The interference was found to be accidental as Impartiality (GB) shifted quickly away from the whip and moved Harswell Ruby (IRE) marginally off its intended line as a result.
Following the race, Lewis Edmunds reported that Vesperado (GB), unplaced, hung left-handed.
Sam James reported that Blueandtangerine (GB), unplaced, hung left-handed throughout.
