FormscanBy Gary Carson - Heading into this season SAXON WARRIOR looked like the potential superstar performer of this classic crop. Things started in scintillating style with a devastating victory in the Guineas at Newmarket but it's fair to say it hasn't been plain sailing since then. He didn't get the best run around from his unfavourable draw in the Derby at Epsom and looked to be outstayed at the Curragh. He ran a cracker though when going down by just a neck to Roaring Lion in the Eclipse and may have been slightly unlucky then when carried right by the winner. He just didn't look quite right in the Juddmonte at York last month and to be fair Aidan O'Brien has revealed since that he was one of the horses hardest hit by the bug that swept through Ballydoyle during the summer. At his absolute best he looks capable of taking this and gaining revenge on Roaring Lion. John Gosden's charge is obviously going to be favourite after his impressive win at York and deserves to be. He lost out in a titanic battle when the pair first met as juveniles in last season's Racing Post Trophy and was also behind Saxon Warrior in the Guineas. The score is three to two in favour of Roaring Lion, who finished a place in front at Epsom, but Saxon Warrior is fancied to level it up now if he turns up on song. French Derby winner Study Of Man adds another layer of intrigue to the race. He is expected to improve from last month's run at Deauville and looks dangerous to ignore.%0A
