Formscan By Alan Magee - HURRICANE FLY appears to have a straight-forward task in adding to his haul of 12 Grade 1 victories. The French-bred gelding was almost certainly not at his best when suffering a rare defeat in the Stan James Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival last March but has scored at the top level on both outings since at Punchestown. He looked set to hold the ill-fated Go Native when that rival fell at the last in the Morgiana Hurdle last month (Captain Cee Bee well held), and can confirm his position as the top Irish hurdler. Unaccompanied, a Listed winner on the Flat, took full advantage of the absence of the selection to beat Thousand Stars in this race 12 months ago. However she was firmly put in her place by Hurricane Fly back here in the BHP Insurance Irish Champion Hurdle, and was scratched from the Morgiana after being found in season on the day. Thousand Stars has set the pace when playing second fiddle to his illustrious stablemate on many occasions, and looks likely to again make the running. He proved disappointed on his reappearance at Tipperary in the Grade 2 event won by Captain Cee Bee.
