Formscan By Donal Murphy - Uncle Phil is sure to have plenty of supporters, but his most recent efforts have been disappointing and he is without a win from four visits to Punchestown. Towards the bottom of the handicap, GREAT BEAR appeals. Returning from a break he ran a fine race to finish third at Ballinrobe, on what was his handicap debut over fences. The 123-rated eight-year-old should come on plenty for that effort and it’ll be disappointing if he is not involved towards the business end here. The Banger Doyle returns to fences for the first time since September and with Carl Millar claiming a valuable 7lb, the versatile chestnut looks a leading contender. Typical Thomas and Gaelic Arc are others to consider.
