FormscanBy Tom Weekes - Paul Townend wouldn't be riding a beginners' chase-dodgepot with the Cheltenham festival in mind next week and while his mount CHACUN POUR SOI returns from a 1089 day absence, could well take the beating given the level of his previous good French form. He hasn't raced since having his only chase outing at Enghien in March 2016, when finishing third, and had previously shown smart form at top jumps venue Auteuil in 2015. He has obviously had training problems but it is quite notable he now reappears with the ground having turned soft in recent days. Davy Russell takes the ride on Stooshie who is the current form horse. He made a good enough chase debut at Thurles last month and while he would prove vulnerable to a smart types, he nonetheless is a proven performer at his own level and can be relied upon to run a solid race. Portmore Lough is another which has had training issues but was well held on his latest chase start in December and could be best watched on his third chase outing today while similarly owned At Your Ease is on a retrieval mission and could be best watched following his disappointing run when a well backed favourite at Fairyhouse in January.
