FormscanBy Gary Carson - Galway Hurdle winner SALDIER is the pick at the weights here. The seven-year-old had looked a real Champion Hurdle contender a few seasons ago but has suffered with injury issues and Willie Mullins felt it took him a long time to recover from a bad fall in Naas back in November 2018. He had actually won at Grade 1 level subsequent to that but struggled at the top level last season after another lengthy absence. On his first outing in handicap company over hurdles he proved a class act at Ballybrit and that confidence boosting win may have done him the world of good. He is top rated here off a mark of 162 and gets half a stone off the next best rival, Jason The Militant. Henry de Bromhead's charge was last seen finishing well beaten behind star stable-mate Honeysuckle at Punchestown but is a classy performer on his day having won at Grade 3 level last season and also been a very close third in the Grade 1 Morgiana Hurdle. Darasso is probably best of the rest.
