The Noel Meade-trained gelding won over a mile and a half at Dundalk in April and, following two solid efforts over similar distances, was held up when tried over 1m7f here last Thursday just failing by a nose to peg back Hook Head. The cheek pieces are now traded in for first-time blinkers and he gets the chance to run here off the same mark before being raised 4lb in future handicaps. Hook Head’s trainer is now represented by Coolcullen, who has tried varying tactics when showing promise on both handicap starts. Quiet Desire is another to consider having won at Dundalk in April and finished well to beat all bar the well-backed Ellaat at Fairyhouse last week. Shamiyan can’t be lightly discounted despite the steadier of top-weight.
