Staples shines as Cromwell bags a one-two
Delighted. He runs in the colours of Chrissy Maye who passed away a few months ago, so it is very nice for them (connections). . Obviously, he is a half-brother to My Mate Mozzie and The Other Mozzie, and it is nice to have another winner in the family. . I fancied him to be placed. Eoin was good on him and mugged Keith (Donoghue on Luker's Tipple) late on - just got the kick off the last (hurdle) and it was grand for him to win. . Eoin is great value for his 7lb claim and is riding with great confidence as well which is always good. . I did think Luker's Tipple would outsprint him because he is a very quick horse at home, but he beat him anyway.
Oh Janey off the mark for Crawford & Ewing
I'm really disappointed I haven't won with her before now. She has always shown us a nice wee bit at home and she has never really run a bad race, she is very consistent.
Second win at Downpatrick for Someone's Wish
To be honest, we thought he would come on from the run (first outing since February). They went very fast and Jack said it played into his hands - they stopped in front. . Jack gave him a good ride, as always, he was very patient on him and it was great. . He likes better ground and he's a fun horse, he is doing a job for the lads (Call It What You LikeSyndicate). He'll mix and match now, he'll be grand.
Elliott and Kennedy at double with poignant winner Pour Les Filles
It was a lovely opportunity. He hasn't been the easiest horse to train. It worked out grand (new trip), the race kind of found us rather than us looking for a race. I thought he was a couple of weeks off running, but the race found us so we had to run him. It is lovely that he won as one of the owners, Kieran T Byrne, passed away recently.
Hitthehayson giving ManAboutHorse Syndicate good nights out
He's very hardy. He's a funny, quirky horse at home - some days he would run away with you, other days he wouldn't want to go. He seems to be in the form of his life at the moment anyway, thank God. We had to make plenty of use of him in Roscommon because we knew two and a-half (miles) was his minimum. Hopefully, when he gets up to three miles, he will be better again. He mightn't have to make his own running. They (ManAboutHorse Syndicate) are a new syndicate - half of them are in Spain, and some of them are in America, and then there's a few here. It is great for them and they will enjoy tonight. They enjoyed last Monday and I don't think they got home until 3am, they will be the same again!. We'll see how he is, there is a two and a-half in Wexford for him at the end of the month. It would be nice to go there for the lads who are all from Wexford and I do think he will be better left-handed. He takes a bit of riding going right-handed. We'll try him left-handed. I had him in the chase here today and there was no point running him against Small Town Hero. He will go chasing again, we might go for one more hurdle and then go chasing.
Flash takes beginners' chase for Dempsey & Meyler
It was a lovely ride. He can be a bit free and I suppose the horses he was behind maybe weren't up to much or whatever. He just got into it probably a bit sooner than we hoped, but he was good.
Donoghue & Stone-Walsh complete Downpatrick brace
It was great, Conor said he took a big blow after he jumped the third-last and he just filled him up.
