Permission was given for Shimmering Sands (GB) (IRE) to wear a red hood in the preliminaries.
Prior to this race, a query was raised with David Easterby as to why he was running Shimmering Sands (GB) here at Ayr on Good, Good to Soft in places ground, having made the gelding a non-runner at Ayr the previous day on ground with the same official description.
Easterby stated that having walked the course yesterday, and again today, he felt the ground had dried overnight and was therefore more suitable for Shimmering Sands (GB).
The raceday privilege request in relation to Red Bond trained by Keith Dalgleish, to go to post early, was not submitted.
Keith Dalgleish was warned as to his responsibility to ensure that all raceday privilege requests are submitted by 1pm the day before racing.
The performance of Shimmering Sands (GB), which finished unplaced, was considered.
David Easterby could offer no explanation for the gelding's performance.
The Veterinary Officer reported that a post-race examination of the gelding during routine testing failed to reveal any abnormalities.
Following the race, Daniel Tudhope reported that Gift Of Raaj (IRE), unplaced, was never travelling.
