Florida finds plenty in Fairyhouse opener

He had a lovely run with Wayne (Lordan) the first day in Leopardstown, when he just got squeezed a bit late on. If you come here with a run under your belt it’s a fair help on this track. With normal improvement we thought he’d be hard to beat but he was still fairly green. Jack made it on him and when the second horse came to him it helped him, he found plenty for pressure. He’s a lovely type of colt and he’ll have no problem stepping up into stakes company. He’ll probably go to Naas next for the Pat Smullen listed race. If he doesn’t go there he could be one for the Tyros Stakes. Jack said he’d probably be better going up to a mile. He’s a horse that finds plenty for pressure and once he puts it together he’ll be a nice horse for the back end.

Harrington's Oro Blanco off the mark in good style

We’re delighted with him. Ciaran O’Toole picked him up at the Goffs Classic Sale last year. We bided our time with him, gave him plenty of time, and fair play to the lads. He was just a big, weak, horse last year. He’s progressed from each run. He’s a nice progressive horse. We’ll see where we go from here.

I hoping that the step up in trip would suit him. We had to draw a line through what happened at Naas, he was left on his own. He’s such an honest horse. I said around a bend here we’d try him over seven. I declared him for Sunday, over six (at Navan), just in case I was wrong. Gary said doing that he’d nearly get a mile, the way he ran on. He’s only a baby, and still a colt, so there is plenty of improvement. He has a great temperament and, as I said last night, I love that sire, he has been good to us.

He gave him a good ride, we probably just weren’t positive enough on him last week,. He’s well down on the grass compared to the all-weather, he has very good all-weather form, so he was entitled to win off his mark. I was getting a bit worried because he wasn’t winning on the grass. He had a couple of half decent runs, but just wasn’t winning. It’s great for Paddy (McKeever), a former all-Ireland winner with Armagh. He’s away at the moment and is just on the way back home. Hopefully we can collect somewhere again with him.

Cleary doubles up for Ballydoyle on Antigua

In fairness, he has run well in a couple of maidens before today. Jack gave him a peach of a ride. He let him at it from the word go and set a solid, even, tempo. He got them at it, really, from halfway. When the second horse came to him, he picked up and went again. This is probably his trip, but he’s in the Ulster Derby in a couple of weeks time and it might be worth a crack at that. We’ll see what way the race in Down Royal cuts up, and he might be worth a go at it. If not we’ll find a mile-and-a-quarter handicap for him.

Lee swoops late on Grassick's Amavasya

It’s well deserved. She’s always shown us a little bit at home, but she’d taken time to develop. There’s not much of her and she’s a delicate filly. . In fairness to William Keeling, he’s been very patient with her. If anyone else had her, they’d be telling you to move her on. She’s always been running well without getting close to winning, finishing fifth or sixth. That’s why we felt she’d win somewhere for us, it was just a matter of when.

Holohan puts down his pen to win on Alto Sax

He’s after drifting down the handicap and I think the step up to a mile and a-quarter probably helped him a bit more today. Reese Holohan is flying it and taking a few pounds off him is a help. He's starting to get a bit smarter out of the stalls, he was giving away a lot of races with slow breaks. Shane Foley (on Miss Americana) slowed up the race in front today and he was able to get into it. He picked up in the straight. He’ll keep tipping away in those low-grade handicaps.
