She just didn’t handle Galway and we knew it was too bad to be true,. Normally I wouldn’t run her back this quickly but it looked like an attractive pot and there weren’t many entries so we decided to stick her in. I’m delighted now. The more positive tactics seem to be working with her. She can be tricky and she just likes things her own way. She did it well and that’s her third hurdle win so she’s paying her way. You forgive them for being a little bit tricky, and hard to deal with, when they are able to get you a win or two. She’s a nice mare. She’s in at Tramore next week and if she comes out of this well she’ll probbaly run.

Strong Contender Stays on Strongly for Smithers

It’s great to get that. We had a run of a lot of bad horses over the last year-and-a-half and it’s been tough going,. She’s a grand little filly and she’ll progress away. Hopefully there is another day in her. She belongs to a great owner and he’s been with me since the start, others have come and went. Any day you get a winner for Michael Hogan is a great day. It’s a testament to the lads at home and their great work. We have a small team and we’re trying to climb up again, we had an awful bad run of things. It’s nice to get back. We have a few nice horses at home and hopefully we’ll get a few again. When we have them we’re able to do them but you need the ammunition. Small yards are struggling. Conor gave her a super ride. He rode her from the back, we rode her a bit too prominently in Ballinrobe and made a mistake. He gave her a great ride today.

Goose wins for the McCarthys at Wexford

Clodagh finished up her leaving cert and came working for me, and I said we’d get a store together. We bought this fella and I’m delighted for Clodagh more than anything,. He’s a lovely little horse and he might tip away in that kind of company. It was a messy race. I think they went too hard and Gary was dropped in. It probably fell in our lap a little bit but we’ll take it any day we get it!. He’s only four so hopefully he can improve away.

It’s nice at the age of eight when they hit a bit of form,. I love the idea of training horses that can stay going season after season. He was running at two and has run every year from two to eight. I do like the concept of a horse winning at 10 or 11, horses that want to do it and enjoy doing it over a period of time. You’d wonder did he want to do it at times because he has refused to race several times. He planted at the start last year in Thurles and stayed in the stalls at Dundalk and Gowran. He got suspended for one of his days in Thurles. There have been plenty of times he’s been out of love with the game and we’ve just tried to coax him back into it.

Get It Girl Gets It Right in Finale

She improved from last year. She was very green in Thurles and jumped the road twice,. I went down early today to go over the roads and she was fine. She was like a motorbike around the bends and we were able to stay really tight on fresh ground on the very inside. She was tough, she won hands and heels. She has a lovely pedigree, my mother bred her. She’s a half-sister to Blackstairmountain. She likes that very good ground and she obviously wears a tongue-strap. Whether we go for a winners' bumper or go jumping with her, we’ll have to decide. One of the girls who owns her, Emma (Lawrie), it’s her birthday (owns along with sisters Heather and Hazel). They are staying in Wexford so they’ll enjoy it.
