1½ furlongs out, Hlaitan (GB), placed fourth, hung quickly left, causing Festival Day (GB), placed seventh, to take off heels, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Hlaitan (GB).
An enquiry was held to consider interference shortly after the 1 furlong marker when Hlaitan (GB), placed fourth, ridden by Ben Curtis, interfered with John Jasper (USA), placed fifth, ridden by Daniel Tudhope.
The interference was found to be accidental as Hlaitan (GB) had shifted slightly left at the same time as John Jasper (USA) edged slightly right, causing John Jasper (USA) to be slightly short of room.
