Halley's newcomer springs 40/1 surprise at Naas
I thought she’d need a bit further, so we said we’d start her out over a mile and go from there.
Approach is First home in the Birdcatcher
He did it well in the end. Obviously the step back down in class really suited him and delighted to get his head in front today. . He seemed to enjoy it throughout with no headgear on today. He hit the line strong, and it felt like he had plenty in hand.
Thunderbear strikes for Davison and Ryan in Listed sprint
He hit the line strong and was an impressive winner. They are his conditions — six furlongs, some juice in the ground and a strongly-run race. It was a lovely ride as well and James was patient. It’s lovely as he’s a homebred and owned by Will Armitage and my parents. He’s a real character of a horse and a favourite in the yard. He pops up every year and owes us nothing. He seems best kept fresh for the autumn. We went to Doncaster at the backend of last season and may go there again as Will is based over there.
Drinks are on Stag Night after fav comes good at Naas
He burst through the stalls the last day. He never did anything like that before, and we had to get him recerted. I had him sold twice and he failed the vet twice but he’s a great old servant in the yard. He has terrible feet, and we don’t run him on hard ground. He has bad confirmation with his feet and gets quarter cracks. I think there is another race up the Curragh for him before the end of the season.
