An enquiry was held to consider why Dan Skelton was running Beakstown (IRE) here at Cheltenham on going described as Soft, Good to Soft in places, having declared the gelding a non-runner at Sandown Park on 7 December 2019 on ground with the same official description.
The trainer stated that, having walked the course at Sandown Park on 6 December, in his opinion, the ground was tacky in a number of places and he therefore felt it unsuitable for Beakstown (IRE).
However, with the ground at Cheltenham, in his opinion, not as bad as at Sandown Park, he was happy for the gelding to take its chance on this occasion.
