I knew the step up in trip to a mile would be no problem and I thought he would sneak in at the bottom of the handicap and that we might as well give it a go. We knew he would handle the ground. Chris gave him a great ride. I told him to ride him as he finds him and if he got bumped or crowded to look after him. We were worried about his inexperience in a big field. Three furlongs out I thought he was in trouble as he had to bring him back and when he was riding him two and a half furlongs out I thought he was gone. An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards that are E.B.F. eligible (105 = 9st 12lb) Weights - The top weight in the original handicap; shall not be less than 9st 12lb Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra for each race won Any horse rated above 105 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 9st 12lb. Subsequently, the excess over 105 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any three year old rated above 105 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse''s rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
