This fella just seemed to come right at the right time, I thought he was unlucky on Thursday night. Paul said he travelled everywhere and he jumped great. It was his first run in a handicap and in fairness it was a good performance to do that around here. He is a good tough horse, and he is improving with time. He will probably go to Listowel now, and I still think there is a two mile maiden on the flat in him. He got the job done today and that’ll keep the lads (owners the South East Racing Club) happy. The Stewards enquired into the late declaration by Donald Cashman, trainer of War Of The Pennys, of the 6lb penalty due to be carried by the horse for winning a hurdle race on 12th August. Evidence was heard from the trainer concerned. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards found the trainer in breach of Rules 148 and 194 with regard to the declaration of a penalty and having taken his record into account imposed a fine of ?130.
An extended handicap hurdle for four yrs old and upwards (123 = 11st 10lb) Weights - Top weight in the original handicap shall not be less than 11st 10lb Penalties - Winner of a hurdle after calculation of the handicap to carry 6lb extra for each hurdle race won.
