Permission was given for Cannock Park (GB) to wear a red hood to post.
An enquiry was held following a report from the Veterinary Officer that Zeeband (IRE), trained by Paul John Gilligan, had got loose in the racecourse stables on the morning of the race and was found to be eating leftover feed outside another stable.
Gilligan, an Equine Welfare and Integrity Officer and the Veterinary Officer were interviewed.
Being satisfied that Zeeband (IRE) had received only normal food and water by mouth on the day of racing, the Stewards allowed the gelding to run and informed the trainer that Zeeband (IRE) would be routine tested.
A report was forwarded to the Head Office of the British Horseracing Authority for further consideration.
Approaching the first hurdle, Zeeband (IRE), unplaced, shied left-handed giving a bump to The Kemble Brewery (GB), placed third, which made a mistake as a result, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
From approximately ½ a furlong out, Sean Bowen, the rider of Innatendue (FR), placed second, rode a finish without the use of his left iron after his foot had slipped out.
