Mulvany continues winning run at the Curragh
I know he’s a very fast horse; I’ve always said that. He’s had bits of problems with his wind, and he’s had a couple of jobs done on him. It seems to be working this year. He’s shocking pacey at home and that’s why I said I’d bring him back to five. We tried him at Cork the last day, it was his first time at it, and I’d say it was a shock to the system. Before this we’ve been riding him to try and get home but today I said to Wesley to go out there and ride him from the front. He did everything that he was asked. The Curragh has been very lucky for us and we’re after nailing a few big handicaps. He’s in again at Bellewstown on Thursday. I’m not sure if he’ll run; we’ll see what the handicapper does.

Pierre Royal proves money well spent for Ado
Barry Potts was with me when we bought him. We liked him, he was very lightly raced and had a nice profile. We thought there was a good bit of improvement in him. He cost 48,000 and he was well bought as usually those horses are making treble that. They are not easy bought. He looked a nice model, and we’ve been lucky out of Mr Weld’s before. It was nice to get another one. He’s a big horse and he needed a bit of time. We love Ballybrit so I’d say that will be our next port of call. Then Champions Weekend and then we might have to get our suncream!
Weld can look ahead to big targets with Purview
I was delighted for the horse and for the owners. Juddmonte have been great supporters of mine and I appreciate the family’s support. He’s a very talented colt; he’s beginning to fill into the promise that I always thought he would. I think there is a long year ahead of him still and we’ll look at different options. I’ve always been thinking that at the end of this year he would come to his peak, so today was only a step along the way.
Coen gains the plaudits as Murtagh bags another Derby Festival winner
Things are going well, we’ve had a great couple of days, and it’s always great to have a winner here on Derby Day at the Curragh. Fair play to Ben and the horse. He’s very consistent, he had a few little niggly problems but thankfully he came back. His last run was good. I’m glad Ben got a winner. He was looking at all the other guys having a winner in the yard so it’s great he got one today. I was feeling a bit pumped, it’s more relief than anything else because you know how hard it is to get here and how hard it is to get the horses here. Then everything has to go well in the race. It wasn’t the plan to make the running today but that’s what good jockeys do, take the initiative and ride them what way they think is best. That’s what Ben did today.
