King In Love gives Aherne a welcome winner
this winner was a long time coming for me our horses were very sick for a very long time. Thank God I had a few point-to-point winners lately and this is my first one on the track for a while, so hopefully we’re on the better side of things. King In Love had a lovely run the last day and I was delighted with him then. He has a little turn of foot so we dropped him back in distance today. Hopefully there’ll be another race or two in him. At the end of the last year the ground went a bit quick for him, he’d like a bit of a dig in it.
O’Keeffe completes Naas double, as Mullins bags treble
Four-timer for Mullins, with Galopin’s colours
Olympic Man isn’t becoming a good jumper but he’s getting good at being a bad jumper!. Even with his mistakes, he’s not losing ground and the only one really was when we were off-the-bridle going to the last where he lost a length. Once I galloped away from it, I always felt that I was picking Darragh (O’Keeffe on Foxy Girl) up. He was good and tough up the hill. I raced handily, but was trying to keep him even throughout: maybe in a staying handicap it won’t have as much pressure on his jumping.
Bushmans Pass wins Leinster National
we’re delighted and it was a great ride by Phillip. The plan was to ride him forward and if they take him on, they take him on. At Punchestown the last day, he got tied up in the middle of a bunch of horses and wasn’t comfortable at any stage. It was borderline whether we were going to run him as I said if the ground was drying out, there was no point as he has had leg trouble. In the past, we thought he wanted loose soft ground but maybe we’re wrong. There was a fair bunch of staying chasers coming to the last: they were all there and I couldn’t believe that had the boot to pick up again after jumping the last. he’ll get an entry in the Irish National and could be a horse for it. His race the last day in Punchestown was 3m4f and maybe he doesn’t stay that in soft ground but in ground like today’s, might be happy over it. He wasn’t pulling up at the line anyway.
