Progressive Erskine follows-up on Sligo win
We had to take our chance and it worked. We are lucky to have a good owner and a nice horse and we might get another one somewhere along the line. He is in Clonmel next week and we might go there. He'll stay over hurdles now and once there's an ease in the ground he'll stay ticking away.
Drama provides Mahon with first track success
When things are right for him he does the business and he is at a certain level. I was surprised he won off this mark but he can't handle heavy ground. We have to run him to keep him fit and right. He has won his point-to-point and eight on the track so it's unbelievable and I lost five stone riding him out every morning!. Eoin (Mahon) comes down and rides out another horse of mine in the morning and I decided to give him the spin. He rode him lovely and he jumped super. We'll keep him going until the ground gets fast and he could run over hurdles next.

Mahon completes 1,733/1 double on misspelled Mabey
When I saw 50/1 I said someone must know something more than me! I can't believe it and thanks be to god he came out the right side. I thought he'd win and really fancied him as I knew he'd improve an awful lot from Quakerstown as he wasn't really fit. We had a few small problems and he has been hobdayed and he'll either go to Doncaster Sales or Killarney for a hunters chase next. He is named after a song from Johnny McEvoy which I love and that'll get some wallop tonight!. He's the only racehorse I have now although we have five show-jumpers for my daughter Tara. When the passport for this horse came back, Tara said 'what kind of an eejit are you - you misspelled his name!' but I did fail my English in the Leaving Cert!
Wood follows-up on recent point-to-point success
We were a bit weak about her because she disappointed in a bumper at Cork two runs ago but that was on unraceable ground and it caught her out a bit. She won her point to point 10 days ago but didn't have a hard race. He (O'Connor) was oozing confidence from a long way out and she did it lovely. She might now go for a winners' bumper but mightn't want real deep ground and will go hurdling in the autumn.
