Turkish delight for Townend
Run For Mahler turns over odds-on jolly
She’s a good mare. We were hoping for a good run, but after the last day it was just hard to say. He thought there was no advantage to keeping out, she loves the good ground. We were happy with her all through the race. She’d be a strong enough stayer and she’s very genuine. It’s great to get it, they are lucky owners for me. I don’t know what programme there is for her, I’d say she wouldn’t be overly well handicapped either.
Myself bags a win for himself
He deserved that. He’s been placed in his last three runs and gone up 7lb,. It was important to try and win with him before he crept up another few pounds. He’s not blessed with speed but he’s a real tough, genuine, honest, horse. He’ll go chasing sooner rather than later, he jumps a fence very well. He loves a bit of good ground, so he’ll run away for the summer now.
Luck Between Us strikes at 'double carpet'
Better ground was a big help and he just needed to brush up a bit on his jumping, he was very green for handicaps. He did plenty of schooling at home. He’s a fine big horse and he’ll jump a fence. He loves good ground, so hopefully he’ll have a good summer campaign.
Arcland lands Killarney feature by a nose
It was very tight and I thought he was beat for a minute. .It’s a lovely pot to win and he’s been a real horse for the owners. He ran a belter the last day and just ran into one. These races are a great initiative, and it’s a lovely prize for that level of horse.
Freedom strikes again for Kinirons
That was very good. He’s probably well handicapped on his Flat form and he’s starting to come together,. Donagh was very good on him. He used to be very keen but he’s starting to settle now. We gave him a bit of a break as we were aiming for Galway with him. There is a nice race there on the Saturday, it’s kind of the consolation race for the Galway Hurdle. We had this in mind as it was good timing. He’ll probably come on a little bit for the run, I’d say he got a bit tired there. They put plenty of water on and it’s lovely safe ground. I’m delighted for John (Rowney), he’s a great supporter of ours. I think he’s going to be a nice horse back on the Flat as well. He did it well today and he’s starting to learn. Once he settles he should start to show his ability. He has plenty of pace so I think Galway could suit him. They go hard there and he’ll have the pace, I hope, and the tactical speed to travel.
Across-the-cards double for Andy Slattery
He was the victim of the ground the last day in Limerick and it didn’t go according to plan. We were disappointed on the day, but there was a genuine reason why he didn’t go forward from his first run to his second. The ground was a lot nicer today and he jumped out and kept everything simple. We’ll enjoy today and make a plan during the week, whether we go for a winners' bumper or go for a maiden hurdle. He likes good ground and is very straightforward. We’ll enjoy him.
