THE MIDNITE A NEXT GENERATION BETTING APP HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) Permission was given for Master Zack (GB) to go early to post and for Okami (IRE) to go early to post wearing a red hood.
Leaving the stalls, Master Zack (GB), unplaced, jumped left-handed, interfering with Auntie Jo (GB), unplaced, which in turn gave a bump to the winner, Opal Storm (GB), but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
An enquiry was held to consider interference inside the final half a furlong, involving Street Life (GB), unplaced, ridden by Myla Coppins and Isla Bella (GB), unplaced, ridden by Lewis Edmunds.
Being a 7lb claiming apprentice, Coppins was accompanied in the enquiry by a senior rider.
The interference was found to be accidental in that Street Life (GB) hung-right handed despite its rider’s best-efforts, causing Edmunds to become short of room on the rail and as a result take a check.
The winner, Opal Storm (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Southwell on 14 March 2026 where the mare finished ninth of eleven runners, beaten by a distance of 5 ½ lengths.
Brian Rothwell’s explanation that the mare was suited by the strong pace of the race on this occasion, was noted.
Opal Storm (GB) was routine tested.
Following the race, Lewis Edmunds reported that Isla Bella (GB), unplaced, was denied a clear run for a considerable distance approaching the final furlong marker.
