Rebel Ascendant belies greenness to make winning debut
He’s a classy horse, it’s rare one of mine will win first time out,. I’m probably known for training shorter distance horses but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the journey with this lad, I bought him as a yearling and we were patient. Whatever he does in the first six months of the year is always going to be a bonus. He’s a big angular horse, unfurnished, and he’s very exciting going forward. He was very green but credit to James he was in front at the line. He gave him a nice education down the back and just wheeled out for a clear run up the straight. It all went well. There should be plenty more. He’s a mile-two, and could even be a mile-and-a-half horse in the future as he furnishes. He’s just good and it’s a nice start here today. He’s in the Classic here. Eddie Scally thankfully text me a couple of days before it closed and I said this lad was working well and we’d put him in it, so we might come back here.

Starting Monday bridges five-year gap to land third success
He’s definitely my favourite. I’m delighted that he’s won because now people can stop saying that he hasn’t won since 2021! He’s got that off his back anyway,. I actually thought today wasn’t soft enough but he just jumped and travelled. He was delighted with himself in that grade. At the end of last year I stepped him up to a mile-and-a-half because it was going to be his last race and I was going to retire him but he ran so well we said we’d keep going. I’m thrilled for the owners as they’ve stuck by him. I’m delighted with the other horse, who was second. I’m thrilled with him.
