THE END OF SEASON HANDICAP STAKES (CLASS 6) Permission was given for Turtle Reef (GB) and Elizabetty (IRE) to wear a red hood to post.
Kevin Stott, the rider of Snaafy (GB), drawn 2, was slow to remove the blindfold.
Stott’s explanation that he missed the blindfold at the first attempt before removing at the second attempt, was noted.
Approximately two furlongs out, Blue Mantle (GB), placed fourth, lugged quickly left-handed and in doing so took Buckland Belle (GB), placed second and the winner, Horwich (GB), marginally off their intended lines, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved.
Approximately one furlong out, the winner, Horwich (GB), hung quickly right-handed and in doing so caused Buckland Belle (GB), placed, second to be moved marginally off its intended line and in turn caused the rider of Only Dream Big (GB), unplaced, to ease his mount momentarily when crowded for room, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Horwich (GB).
