uk MARES' NOVICES' HURDLE RACE (CLASS 4) (GBB RACE) An enquiry was held to consider the placings in this race following interference on the run to the line involving the winner, Evening Tess (GB), ridden by Harry Skelton, and Viscountess Nelson (IRE), placed second, ridden by James Bowen.
The Stewards considered that the interference had not improved the placing of Evening Tess (GB) as contact between the two had been minimal and had occurred in the final few strides before the line, added to which Viscountess Nelson (IRE) had lost no momentum and Bowen had not had to stop riding.
Skelton was cautioned for careless riding for allowing his mount to drift right-handed without sufficient correction, causing it to make brief contact with Viscountess Nelson (IRE).
Following the race, James Best reported that My Lady D'ex (FR), unplaced, jumped poorly throughout.
