The Stewards interviewed G.F. Carroll, rider of Columbanus, concerning his use of the whip in the straight when out of contention. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that G.F. Carroll was in breach of R10(3)(b) by continuously hitting his mount after his chance of winning or being placed was clearly gone. Consequently he was suspended for 1 raceday having taken into consideration his previous record. The Stewards interviewed C.R. King, rider of Ballymac Rosey, concerning his use of the whip in the straight. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that C.R. King was in breach of R10(3)(b) by hitting his mount when his chance of winning or being placed was clearly gone. Consequently he was cautioned having taken his clean record into consideration.
An extended handicap for three yrs old and upwards (80 = 10st) Penalties - (after calculation of the handicap) A winner shall carry 5lb extra for each race won Any horse rated above 80 shall initially be treated as having that rating and the highest weight allotted shall be 10st. Subsequently, the excess over 80 in any rating shall be added to the weight allotted to that horse. (For the purpose of this note, any three year old rated above 80 shall have the applicable weight for age allowance then prevailing deducted from the horse's rating prior to the original calculation of the handicap)
