It is a big thrill to have my first winner for those (McManus) colours. We had Enjoy D'allen previously, who didn't work out, and they kindly sent us this lad, so this is my second for Mr McManus. He was a work in progress as a young horse so there was no pressure on us to find out his trip, and we were told to work away and try and win a race with him. We didn't have to give Harry (Cobden) any instructions, he told me what he would do and it was a lovely ride. He is a lovely horse and we felt he was in the right race. We had him in Killarney last week but Frank (Berry, McManus' racing manager) mentioned to wait for this and it was a great call. I’m thrilled. Darragh and I would be very good friends, we don’t get him as often now as we have our own people at home. I’m delighted to support him and try and get him a winner or two. It’s wonderful for the owners (Nice Little Earner Syndicate), they are a great bunch of guys. He ran a nice race in Cork the last day. I said to Darragh that he was probably a big horse for around here and to take his time and sneak away. He’s class. Tiernan (Power Roche) gave the other horse (Plain Or Battered) a very good ride to finish second as well, he stayed going really well. I didn’t think either horse would handle the track but, with the night that’s in it (leading the William Hill Each Way Extra Challenge Series), we had to give it a good go. It’s marvellous that it’s paid off. Winning the series is huge and that helps with the stable staff prize as well. I know Gavin (Cromwell) is chasing us hard for that. It wasn’t before time that he got going, he won his maiden hurdle first time,. He had a good run in a bumper here as well, when he was second to one of Willie Mullins’ (Caman Eileen). I don’t know if he’ll run again tomorrow, we’ll see. It might be a bit soon. He’s a grand horse for the summer. He’s a smasher. It took us so long to get him right, he got a fall schooling after he won his maiden hurdle. There was lots of chiropracty. It is great for John Aherne, and The Little Yank is a bit of a legend. He got a very bad fall one year at Listowel which ruined him, but he appears to be coming back to his best and is well handicapped if he does so. He won two bumpers, was a proper horse and Fr Shane Casey (part-owner) loves running him and my daughter Gillian is the horse's other owner. He has come back down to a winnable mark recently and we're looking forward to the summer now.
