Navan preview
Sight Hound bids to continue his progress when he steps out of maiden company for the first time in the Irish Stallion Farms European Breeders Fund Race over a mile at Navan on Saturday. Sat 13th Jun
That was pleasing - she was a bit idle over the last furlong but you'd imagine she'll improve from the run. She's obviously a mare we're very fond of and will be going back up to Group company next - where and when we'll see in a couple of weeks time. The Blue Wind might be a suitable race next, she won it last year and good ground would be fine for her. It's fitting she won today as her dam (Nightime) won her maiden here on Easter Sunday before winning the Irish 1,000 Guineas.

It was a good performance. It was her first run in four months,. The plan is to give her one more run this year. The plan has always been the Group 1 Fillies and Mares on British Champions Weekend. I've had that in mind for her since April. She put in two lovely performances in the Blue Wind and Alleged Stakes, beating Found and then Bocca Baciata. She enjoyed her summer break and has come back to be what I expected her to be, a Group 1 filly before the end of the year. It's equally pleasing to have bred her with my late mother. She's out of Nightime who gave my mother a great day when winning the 1,000 Guineas. I'm more looking forward to next year and think she'll be a serious mare then. The best is yet to come.

That was an impressive performance. My present thoughts are to leave her off now for a summer break, and hopefully she will make up into a Group 1 filly in the autumn,” . If we trained her for the Pretty Polly and we get a dry summer it wouldn't suit as she likes a little ease in the ground.

She's a nice mare. She won the Oyster Stakes last year and has grown and strengthened over the winter. My late mother bred her, and we have all the family. It was an excellent renewal of the race, and was really of a Group 1 or Group 2 standard. I'm not sure where she will go next. The Blue Wind at Naas is a possibility.

They are two very nice fillies and they battled it out very well,. The winner ran a super race in Cork, when she was a close fourth to her stable companion, Zannda, in a Group race, and I didn't think there would be much between them today. The second filly is still very immature and she will also make into a lovely filly as the year progresses. Experience won, it's as simple as that. There was very little between them working the other morning, and they ran pretty much to the way they worked. Maybe the second filly worked a shade better the other morning and so Pat went for her. The winner will have one more run this year at Group level. The second filly will come back to run in the new mile and a half Listed race at Naas at the next meeting there.
D K Weld
She did it very nicely. She did what we thought she'd do,. She ran a lovely race first time and progressed nicely. She's potentially a very nice stakes filly. Hopefully she'll campaign at stakes level from here on in and she wants to go further. I have to compliment Navan. After a dry spell they have the track in magnificent condition.
