Formscan - The draw has been kind to LAST SHAMARDAL, who was able to leave a below-par Beverley run behind him to finish a creditable sixth in a typically warm class 4 event at York latest. He will need more to come out on top, but an ease in class will do his chances no harm, nor will a 1lb drop in the handicap. Kosometsuke went agonisingly close at Salisbury last time out when attempting to follow up on his earlier Kempton triumph. Roger Varian's charge remains of considerable interest, while Golden Thorn is another to consider.
