An extended handicap steeplechase for five years old and upwards (130 = 11st 12lbs)
Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each steeplechase won.
Riders - 1. Lady Riders who hold a Licence under I.N.H.S. Rules who have not lost the right to claim an allowance under Rule 52 (up to and including 31st March 2026). 2. Lady Riders who hold a Licence under National Hunt Rules to ride in Steeplechases issued by any Recognised Turf Authority who have not ridden 60 winners or more (up to and including 31st March 2026). 3. Lady Riders who hold a Category ''C'' Permit to ride under I.N.H.S. Rules. 4. Lady Riders who hold a Permit to ride in Steeplechases against Professional Riders issued by any Recognised Turf Authority. The IHRB have suspended the relevant parts of Rule 135 for the purposes of this race.

Our plan was to jump him out but I was a bit concerned about getting the trip,. Obviously we wanted to get a start like we did last year and utilise his jumping as he is a good jumper. Paddy said he got plenty of breathers into him and it all worked out well. We've been aiming for this since before Christmas. He won a ladies race here in November when he ran away with the jockey, Joanna Walton, and she said then that he would get further. It was two-miles-six that day. We were lucky to get into it as well. We're ten minutes down the road, there was nobody here last year but my family and everyone is here this year, all the yard and it's unbelievable. Paddy started off with me five or six years ago, he was going to be a Flat jockey for a while. He went over to England and tried the Flat there but had no luck and came back and rode a couple of winners for me on the Flat. I said 'Paddy forget about the Flat, you're going to be a big lad' and he took to jumping like a duck to water. He won a couple of hurdle races and it went from there, he's flying now. He comes into us now two mornings a week.

Last season lingered on for him and I had him in for the Mayo National (late May) but he didn't run and, when he came back in, he picked up a niggly injury which set us back. Fair play to Padraig Roche (trainer) who took him and swam him for a while, which kept the wheels turning, but he was very lucky to get here today as the lorry broke down. We had to swap him over on the motorway and just got here on time. Heather (partner) was travelling with Dancing Jeremy, but her lorry broke down and it wasn't able to go over 30km per hour. Luckily, I was travelling behind with the later runners, so was able to swap and he got here just on time. We were fortunate winners, but they are there to be jumped and he has been a savage servant for us. He won a Listed race last year, and our young lad Charlie is only four but walks him around the yard and loves him. He has an attractive mark over hurdles, so we might go that way now.

Quotes on Kings Hill (IRE)
He is a good horse, but didn't get the rub of the green for a while and he had surgery on a kissing spine. Since he started jumping fences, he is a different horse and he is entitled to win today's race with his run in the Supreme (Novices Hurdle of 2024). He will be better on better ground and his time of year is coming, so we'll place him as we go by. I would have loved him to go to Cheltenham, but one of his owners preferred to stay home with him and, with the slow year we've had, the horses are only coming back to form now. We're better off to get a winner here. Jack is at home with us three days a week, is now with Oliver McKiernan and other local trainers, but it is hard for these guys who are attached to small yards.

He was very good. He had a nice run in the maiden in Galway, I thought he'd run a nice race here today but I didn't expect him to go and win like that,. He's a grand horse to look forward to for the winter and he'll go hurdling. He won't run on the Flat again this season but that could get him into a nice handicap somewhere along the way next year. His next port of call will be a maiden hurdle. He floated around there and Gary said it felt like good ground on him so he shouldn't have any problem with winter ground.

Jack unfortunately had an accident point to pointing in Dungarvan and while I never knew him, obviously the same has now happened to us. We know what they went through and they know what we’re going through: it means a lot to win for them. It’s a local crowd today, we’ve a lot of family here and the racing community are something else. I’ve had someone looking down on me because the last few weeks I’ve been very very lucky and riding for great people. Alan (O’Sullivan) gave him a cracking ride and this is a very special day for the Tyner family as well, so I’ delighted to be part of it. This means everything to me, my partner Matt and Grace Dorgan, who is fantastic and led him up. Grace is brilliant as this horse tests her every day riding him and he is a bit of a monkey. He ran a really nice race at Cheltenham but went off at a really fast pace and didn’t get home. I think the occasion went to both their heads but I’m sorry for Daragh (Allen, injured regular rider) but am delighted for Alan. He might go to Punchestown for the Champion Hunters or else to Tipperary which is for novices and he also likes a flat track.

He had a nice run here at this meeting last year, in a maiden hurdle, and I’d say he’s just improved for a bit of nicer ground,. It was nice to see him get his head in front. He’s been a frustrating horse since his bumper win. Hopefully we can go forward. I think he’s a horse that appreciates a bit of nicer ground. Hopefully we’ve got him on the right track now. It was a lovely ride by Alan, he rode him with plenty of confidence. It was lovely to see and keeps everyone happy and confident going into next week.

he probably wouldn’t have won at Down Royal the last day but was running well until he made a mistake at a crucial stage. He’s a big awkward oul divil, he has legs everywhere and at Down Royal the third-last and second-last were taken out and he missed the fourth-last. It then took him forever to get going. Even over hurdles he’d always give you the odd fright but he jumped brilliantly today, bar the one before the ditch. He probably has more respect for a fence. Three mile and four seemed to suit him well around here and the bit of rain that came during the week was a blessing as he probably wouldn’t have run if we didn’t get that. He’ll go to Fairyhouse on Easter Monday for the 0-140 handicap, and it will probably be holiday time after that. His jumping wasn't brilliant the day he won his beginners chase here but is getting better and better. Tiernan was very good on him and he jumped very well with him - I keep saying his 7lb claim is invaluable to me. The horse has been very lucky as I was finding soft ground all summer for him and was poking along through but Thurles this winter has really suited him. . I'm not quite sure where we go next and I'll see if I can find a novice handicap chase somewhere - he needs good ground.

I took a chance coming here so soon after Limerick and he is also way better going left-handed. I have him for two point-to-point and two hunter chases and he had finished second three times. Aintree is left-handed and I think now we are qualified to run in the Foxhunters Chase there. He'll go back point-to-pointing now but going left-handed, over a short hunters chase trip and the fences over there, will suit. This lad has a bit of class, has to be ridden positively and while he'll go on better ground, wouldn't want it too quick.

He had a good run as a four-year-old in a bumper but he hadn't respect for his hurdles afterwards and going over fences today has really made a horse out of him. He was a bit disappointing the last day in Galway but he is only a five-year-old so hopefully can improve. He was the youngest horse in the field today.
