It was never in doubt!. You have to ride him for luck and they didn't go hard early and then they are sprinting. It's very hard when they get first run on you, even if they are inferior horses, to pull them back. He got there in the end. I would have been disappointed as a trainer if I had gone the whole year without winning one with him. I had a blip in the middle of the season when his bloods went all wrong and I had to back off him, and then dealing with ground and everything else. His only bad run was the Bold Lad and I don't know why, maybe because all the owners were here!. He's in tomorrow and we'll see how he is in the morning. There is also a race here on the last day for him.

It was just the ground. He won last year at Cork on slow ground and was second in Naas. He ran well here at the beginning of the year but we just haven’t had that ground all year. We gave him a try at Dundalk. He ran well the first day but I’d say he mightn’t have let himself down last week. There is a big difference on that ground. I think there might be something else back here for him, whatever there is on soft we’ll try and keep going anyway. It’s just a pity that he’s that bit ground dependant. He’s very effective on that.

The run at Bellewstown has really brought him on as we gave him a break over the summer as he doesn't like the hard ground. Bellewstown brought him on and he is back in good form. We just thought the rain might not have come for us, but enough came - it is yielding. This race was the plan after Bellewstown, he won this race two years ago. Rory gave him a great ride up the inside and he did it well. He might run the last day in the Curragh.

We love this place and we love coming here and taking on the big boys,. It's a family effort and it's absolutely great. He gave him some ride and he took a bit of riding there, he probably wants seven. I thought he was caught for a bit of toe at one stage, and he got stuck into him. He's as tough as nails. In Galway he was drawn 17, got cut in half and met more trouble than you would outside Supermacs in Thurles on a Saturday night! . Seamie (Heffernan) came in then and said it was a non-event. we thought a bit of her at home but didn't learn a whole pile about her the last day. She broke very quick then from a wide draw but Nathan took her back to get her to switch off, as she can run a little free. We concentrated on switching her off but probably ended up shuffling too far back. It wasn't ideal, we ended up wide so we put a line through her run as we always liked the way she worked. She was working the same way prior to today and with racing, she has naturally improved. She'll definitely get seven furlongs and will probably get a mile.
