We knew the distance was a bit short for her over a mile at Naas the last day but thought we might get away with it, although the two who finished in front of her are quite smart. Today, she looked as though all she does is stay. Her pedigree has plenty speed in it but when I looked at it properly this morning, the second-dam finished second in a November Handicap. The Raceday Stewards interviewed D.P. McDonogh, rider of Matrice, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned who accepted he was in breach of the whip regulation. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that D.P. McDonogh was in breach of R.10.3(g)(frequency) and having considered his record in this regard (second offence), they suspended him for four racedays

J.A. Heffernan, rider of Bay Colony, trained by J.A.Stack, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount took a bad step at the road as the lead horse was ducking left. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the matter, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted.
