Permission was given for Protest (GB) to go early to post, wearing a red hood; and for Hey Boo (GB) and Serving With Style (GB) to both wear a red hood to post.
Arisaig (GB) wore earplugs which were removed at the start.
Approximately 2 furlongs out, Never Let Go (GB), placed fifth, lugged quickly left-handed before being immediately corrected, resulting in Orange Sky (IRE), unplaced, and Elwateen (IRE), placed fourth, becoming short of room and unbalanced, but after viewing a recording of the incident, it was found that no riding offence was involved and that it had not improved the placing of Never Let Go (GB).
The winner, Francophone (GB), appeared to show improved form compared with its previous run at Pontefract on 08 July 2025 where the filly finished sixth of ten runners, beaten by 9 ¾ lengths.
Charlie Johnston’s explanation that Francophone (GB) was unsuited by racing on the outer from a wide draw at Pontefract last time and may have benefitted from being freshened up on this occasion, following an 80 day break, was noted.
Francophone (GB) was routine tested.
The performance of Troia (GB) which finished unplaced, was considered.
Ed Walker could offer no explanation for the filly’s performance.
Following the race, Rossa Ryan reported that Regal Charm (IRE), unplaced, took a false step 1 ½ furlongs out.
