He’s been a great horse for us and I’m delighted to get that,. It’s after taking a little bit of time for him to find his feet in handicaps so it’s nice to get that. The Plate has always been the target in the back of my mind so it’ll be on to there now. Ideally we would probably have liked to have gone straight there but off his rating today he’d have missed out twice in the last ten years. We just didn’t want to take the chance and that’s why he was running here today really. He’s won around Galway, he handles the track. It’s been one of the races that I’ve always wanted to win, I haven’t had many runners in it. Like a lot of people I’ve been going racing to Galway since I was a child. The Raceday Stewards enquired into possible interference in the closing stages involving Ol Man Dingle, ridden by S. O'Callaghan, placed first, and Gaelic Arc, ridden by H.E. Sexton, placed second, where it appeared both horses came close together. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. H E Sexton stated that received a bump causing his mount to become unbalanced which cost him momentum. S O' Callaghan stated that as he hit the front his mount idled and further stated that there was no contact between the two. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards made no alteration to the Judge’s placings and took no further action.

An extended handicap steeplechase for four years old and upwards
Penalties - Winner of a steeplechase after calculation of the handicap shall carry 7lb extra for each steeplechase won.
Riders - Professional & Claiming Professional Riders who have not ridden more than 15 N.H. winners in the 2025/2026 season (Qualified Riders are excluded from riding in this race). Should the winning horse in this race be entered to run in The Tote Galway Plate at Galway on July 29th, 2026, any entry, forfeit or declaration fees incurred will be refunded. Also, the winning horse in this race will be exempt from ballot from The Tote Galway Plate at Galway on July 29th, 2026 provided its weight after the preliminary ballot is 10st or above.
