The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident in the closing stages of this race involving Dunum, ridden by W.M. Lordan, unplaced, and Copacabana Sands, ridden by J.A. Powell, placed first, where it appeared Copacabana Sands edged out creating a gap. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. W. M. Lordan stated that his race was run when the horse on his inner edged out and there was minor contact J. A. Powell stated that he felt there was a gap to go into and added that there was slight contact. Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards were satisfied that no further action was warranted
D.P. McDonogh, rider of Mataariki (FR), trained by Joseph Patrick O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount lugged right in the straight.
